James Lake Farms

James Lake Farms James Lake Farms - an organic cranberry marsh located in beautiful northern Wisconsin.

In 2006, my wife Nora and I purchased the marsh from my former employer, Northland Cranberries, Inc. We grow 64 acres of certified organic cranberries with five different fruit varieties. Our team includes Tom Drozd, our manager, Ben Riker, our assistant manager(and oldest son) and Justin Gensler, our salaried marsh worker. We are also assisted by an excellent group of seasonal workers who help ma

ke our operation a success. The marsh was originally started in 1950 and several of our beds date from this time. The property has gone through seven owners since that time and has had a rich history of innovation. Our goal is to continue this tradition by adopting organic growing methods

What do cranberry growers do in the winter?
It’s true, winter is a time of rest. A recharge. But also a very important time for our crop. Making ice layers to insulate the vines, sanding on top of the beds for w**d and pest protection and machinery maintenance are all on the to-do lists over these cold months.

Snowshoeing & enjoy the beauty of the Northwoods winter are also on the to-do list ✅
