Many of you will have the day off Monday. Some of you may be fortunate enough to have a long three-day weekend. And many of us will be attending cookouts, having a few well-deserved drinks, and kicking off the summer grilling season to the backdrop of flags large and small waving in the breeze.

As you do so, please take a moment to reflect on what Memorial Day is truly about.

It's folded flags displayed above mantles, empty chairs and boots where loved ones once sat and stood, and the faint echo of gunshots and bugles dancing on the winds of open fields across our great land.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice and appreciation for the loved ones they left behind.
