Gratitude✨️
This time last year, we were excitedly building out a new location in Magnolia. Everything seemed perfect. The property owner was not only our new landlord, but a commercial contractor, as well. He walked through every idea with us as we designed and customized the entire layout to create a unique space that incorporated all of our needs and allowed for flexibility and growth. We met with his electrician & plumber that so graciously came out to our Tomball shop to take exact measurements of all of our current equipment so everything would be seamless.
Then, busy season started. While we were inundated with events, our new landlord was keeping us updated on the progress of the build out, relaying the needs of various contractors, collecting payments, and overseeing the entire project. Between events, we would pop by hoping to see the progress ourselves, but we were always just missing each other. It was disappointing, but understandable because everyone was just so busy!
Then suddenly his office doors were always locked. Calls and messages weren't being returned. "Forgotten" meetups. As deadlines were quickly approaching, I started to get *really* nervous. We had scraped together thousands of dollars and poured it all into a dream...and while we were working nonstop to create magic for all of our clients during the holiday season...our world shattered. The work wasn't done. None of it. The money was gone. His contractors were never given the money I paid. Just one giant whirlwind of utter disbelief and heartache. A huge con.
We scrambled to try & recover what we could, but it took months. Our Tomball landlord kindly allowed us to sign a short-term lease so we would have a place to work, and with the unbelievable help from his own realtor and broker...we finally made it to the other side of the nightmare. Was it soul crushing? Yes. Was it embarrassing? Also, yes. But, we learned a lot from it.
Sometimes, what *appears* to be perfect isn't meant for us. Throughout my life, I've experienced this in so many different ways. In the moment, the disappointment and pain are incredibly raw and palpable...but time reveals the true blessing it was to have been removed from that person, place, or thing.
Shifted perspective is understanding that what's truly meant for you will always find you where you are. 🖤
