š± WELCOME TO THE MARKET, ALCANTAR FAMILY FARMS! š±
We are so excited to welcome Alcantar Family Farms to the Topanga Farmers Market!
Founded by JosĆ© Alcantar in 2012, this family-run farm grows an incredible array of some of the freshest, most beautiful produce around. Think dazzling tomatoes, crisp lettuces, vibrant greens, tender beans, berries, zucchiniāand the carrots theyāre especially known for. š„š

JosƩ grew up farming with horses and cattle in Guanajuato, Mexico before coming to California at age 16. He worked his way up in agriculture, eventually becoming a farm foreman before starting a farm of his own. Today, JosƩ and his family grow on farmland in the Carpinteria and Buellton areas and have become a beloved presence at farmers markets throughout the region.
Their farming practices are rooted in caring for the land and avoiding pesticides - from crop rotation that gives the soil time to rest to releasing ladybugs in the spring to naturally help control pests. š
JosƩ is also a mentor to younger farmers and has long been passionate about getting more fresh fruits and vegetables into local schools and inspiring the next generation to connect with agriculture.
We feel incredibly lucky to have another hardworking, family-run farm joining our market community. ā¤ļø
