Thinking about ordering a whole or half beef?
Here are 3 things to know before you do:
🥩 1. You're buying based on hanging weight, not packaged weight.
The final amount of beef you take home will be less than the hanging weight because of trimming, bone removal, and moisture loss during aging.
📦 2. Your cut sheet matters.
How thick you want your steaks, the size of your roasts, whether you want soup bones, brisket, patties, or extra ground beef—all of those choices affect what ends up in your freezer.
❄️ 3. Make sure you have enough freezer space.
A whole beef can require a significant amount of freezer room, while a half beef is more manageable for many families.
At Bluebonnet, we walk you through the entire process so you understand exactly what you're getting and can customize your order to fit your family's needs.
