The girls at Green Acres have been busy, and we have fresh eggs available!

Our eggs are collected right here on the farm, kept unwashed with their natural bloom intact, and stored right on the counter the way we do things here at Green Acres.

🥚 $5 per dozen

When you buy eggs from a small local farm, you’re not just buying a dozen eggs—you know where they came from, how fresh they are, and you’re helping support the feed, care and everyday work that goes into keeping a small farm going. ❤️

And these girls definitely expect to be fed whether egg prices are up, down or sideways. 😂🐓

🌻 Monday morning at Green Acres… and everybody needs something. 😂

Feed buckets filled.
Water checked.
Eggs gathered.
Animals counted.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I’m supposed to remember what my plans were for today. 😂

That’s farm life.

There’s always something growing, something needing attention, somebody hollering because breakfast is five minutes late, and usually at least one surprise I definitely did NOT put on the schedule.

But there’s also something pretty special about starting a new week surrounded by all of it. ❤️

Not every day on the farm is a good one. 💔🦃

Our sweet Thelma was attacked by something outside the barnyard. We don’t know exactly what got ahold of her — possibly a dog, coyote, owl, or another predator — but she came home with some pretty significant wounds.

We’ve been incredibly fortunate for a very long time and haven’t had much predator trouble here at Green Acres. Unfortunately, when you raise animals, eventually you’re reminded that Mother Nature isn’t always gentle.

The good news is Thelma is still very much Thelma. ❤️ She’s alert, she’s on her feet, and she’s not acting weak or defeated — and I’m taking every bit of that as a positive sign.

For now, she’s tucked safely away in our little farm hospital/quarantine area, separated from the rest of the flock so nobody can bother her while she heals. Her wounds have been cleaned and are being treated, and we’ll be watching her very closely over the next several days.

I’m intentionally not sharing pictures of her injuries because they’re pretty graphic.

Farm life has some absolutely beautiful moments… baby chicks, fresh eggs, garden harvests and animals running to greet you in the morning.

And then there are days like this.

So tonight, we’re rooting for Thelma. 🦃❤️

She’s one tough old girl, and if stubbornness counts for anything, I’d say she’s got a pretty darn good fighting chance.

Send our girl a little love tonight. 💚

Every morning starts the same way…

The coop door opens…
The chickens race out…
The turkeys are right behind them…
And a brand new day begins. ❤️

There are chores waiting, gardens to tend, eggs to gather, and plenty of work ahead—but mornings like this never get old.

🌅 Sunday Reflections from Green Acres 🌾

Some weeks go exactly as planned…

This wasn’t one of them. ❤️

This week brought thunderstorms, endless grass that refused to stop growing, gardens begging for attention, animals depending on me, projects waiting to be finished, and more hours in a day than I actually had.

There were moments I laughed…
Moments I got frustrated…
Moments I stood in the rain waiting for Mother Nature to decide whether I could finish mowing or not.

But there were also fresh eggs gathered.
Baby chicks growing.
Bunnies getting ready for new homes.
A chicken coop with a brand-new roof.
Produce coming out of the garden.
And another week of building the dream—one day at a time.

Homesteading isn’t about perfection.

It’s dirty fingernails.
It’s sore muscles.
It’s changing plans when the weather changes yours.
It’s celebrating the little victories that most people never see.

As I close out another week, I’m grateful.

Grateful for this little piece of land.
Grateful for healthy animals.
Grateful for the opportunity to grow food.
And grateful for every single one of you who chooses to follow along on this journey.

Here’s to another week of faith, hard work, and seeing what grows next.

🌻 Sometimes you have to stop and look at what all that work produced.

Tomatoes by the bucket. 🍅
Potatoes piled on the counter. 🥔
Onions and squash coming in.
And more eggs than I currently know what to do with. 😂🥚

Around Green Acres, there is ALWAYS something that needs feeding, watering, planting, picking, fixing, mowing, cleaning or building.

And some days the list feels absolutely endless.

But then I walk into the kitchen and see this.

Food grown in the garden.
Eggs laid by the girls outside.
A countertop covered with the results of all those little chores that happen day after day.

This is why we do it. ❤️

It doesn’t have to be perfect or pretty. It just has to keep growing.

🔨🐓 Another Saturday project checked off the Green Acres list!

The chicken coop officially has a roof! 🙌

Around here, the project list never really gets shorter. You finish one thing and somehow three more appear. 😂

But this one feels GOOD to check off.

Little by little, project by project, Green Acres keeps coming together.

It may not always be fancy, and it may involve a ladder sitting in the yard long after I should’ve put it away 😂… but I did it.

One more job DONE. ✔️

Now… what’s next? 🌻🐓

Around here, not everyone has feathers and a number…

Some of them have names. ❤️

Meet Thelma & Louise, our two Heritage Black turkey hens.

They’re curious, always nearby when I’m working, and never seem to miss out on knowing exactly what I’m doing.

Farm life isn’t just about raising animals…

It’s about getting to know their personalities, too.

And trust me… these two have plenty of personality. 😂🦃
