We've been rather quiet on social media this summer. We've continued to clean around the entire property, including the spring pool, the spring house and the raceways, with the goal to be more efficient and too one day look like a park. Robert built a much larger
hatchery raceway for our fry. This will allow us to comfortably hatch 90,000 eggs at one time. We currently have 12" trout shipping this fall. We have healthy fingerlings that are continuing to grow. We also have three to five pound trophy trout available for pond stocking. Very soon, we will be harvesting eggs and milt, attempting to hatch our own stock. This last week I attended The United States Trout Farmer's Association Conference in Corning, CA. It's so beneficial to listen, learn and visit with folks that are in the industry, some for 40+ years. I was also able to visit Mount Lassen Trout Farm in California. It was great to validate that we are farming trout correctly and to also get some new ideas. Luckily, farmers in the trout industry are eager to share information. Back in May I was able to complete my HAACP Certification, this will allow us to sell trout for food as soon as we have a certified processing area. Very soon, I will be posting videos of the egg harvest. Stay tuned!! Thanks for following along!!
