The room where the flesher is topped out at 98 degrees today!

200 year old house + upper floor + no AC = HOT.
Which is why I'm only fleshing a couple critters a day right now. 😅🫠

This may across as cheesy but as someone who's clientele is mostly men, and as someone who struggle with mental health herself, I feel inclined to always shout out to the month of June.

I spend a lot of time standing in the driveway, under the deer stand, or leaning up against trucks just listening to and conversing with some great men. (Some badass ladies too, of course)

Everything is noticed.
The offerings to help me hang deer in November.
The "You've got this" I get when I nervously talk about my progress in the tannery.
The way ya'll get excited for fresh cookies while standing in line waiting to tag.

I am beyond lucky to have such a great group of customers.

So please know that here at the Mercantile, we see you and hear you. You are appreciated and always welcome.

This goat came to us in need of preserving so his farmer's heart could heal. Her favorite boy, had him for 7 years.

He came with challenges though.
He was very sick before he died so his pelt was sensitive (We had to sew up 2 spots and had minor hair pulling along the edge) and his nose bones shattered (If you own goats/sheep, you know they thrash around a lot when ill and stuck down)

We did the best we could by him and his farmer. Today he goes home. ❤️

Finishing up customer skulls this week and getting some of our own inventory done!

This coyote skull is already spoken for BUT I have a whole pile to do so if you'd like to reserve one- the price is $75. (2 or more for $65 each)
You can add rustic burn work to the skull for $35**

*These are Maine hunted coyotes.
*Legally harvest and tagged.
*We carry our Bone and Skull license.

Gearing up our inventory for Maine Open Farm Day!
We will be headed all the way to Wells this open farm day to hang out at Ingendahl Acres, LLC.

We will have furs, fur accessories, skulls, honey, and more! We are also happy to coordinate with our southern Maine customers who need to drop off pelts or euromounts to be done while we are there. :) Be sure to stop by your local farm this July 26th!

Right now I am putting out attractive, pliable, quality wall hanger work. Honestly, I'm satisfied with that.

There's still a lot of learning to do but getting to 100% garment quality isnt why I did this and I don't want the thought of it to stress me out.

I'm a bit spiritual... and I saw how many predatory animals here get tossed out after harvest each fall. My soul needed to find a way to combat that.

Offering affordable wall hanging/decor quality tannery services is the best way I could think to encourage my fellow outdoors folks to utilize these critters.

The amount of whole frozen coyotes that got left here this winter for skinning and tanning tells me I've already started to make a difference.

We have a big change coming to our lifestyle (Announcing Monday the 8th) so I know my time for learning will become more limited and that's okay because I'm already full filling my mission.
