Hey pandas, Andrea here. Yesterday I had an experience I need to address. While I was out an appointment for the day, I received a stressed out phone call from my housemate. A customer was at my door, unable to get ahold of me because they were reaching out to a deceased man’s phone and email, and frantic about an exchange. I told her over the phone to give her a refund because I could not help her.
A couple of things about this. My home is not a retail location and not open for customers to visit. It is listed all over the internet and I cannot change it, it autogenerates and is a problem.
The same goes for the phone number. I am working on that, but his number and email still pop up unexpectedly all the time.
I am a brand, but I am not Amazon. Pieces are special because they are one of a kind and temporarily available magic. I simply am unable to have everything everyone wants all the time.
It costs nothing to be kind. She was unaware of Joe’s death and changed her tone when provided this information. But it shouldn’t matter. I’m a young woman doing my best, that’s all that should matter. People are so accustomed to being bowed to by big companies because they can afford it and it’s creating a lot of entitlement.
I don’t have a lot of these incidents, I feel very lucky because my product seems to draw generally awesome people. But every now and then I have to take a stand for myself. This was really not appropriate in any way.
I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this PSA and hope you have a wonderful day.
