Happy Memorial day! The warm temps are here and the orchard is loving it. The orchard is about 90% in bloom. The bees are busy visiting the trees and doing their critical role pollinating the blooms. Edna, Sybil, and the birds have found their spot among the trees. Here's a few pics of the orchard.

The pears and plums are always the first to bloom here in the orchard. The apples are not far behind and of course the dandelions are plentiful keeping the bees busy till the trees all open up.

Apple buds are wanting to open up. We hope freezing temps will be done once these little delicate buds open and flower. If not, they will freeze and the apple crop will take a hit. On another note.... did you know an apple bud can produce 5-6 apples if pollinated.

For the past couple weeks we've been out in the orchard pruning our fruit trees. If you've never seen it done before, it looks like we are cutting a lot off but there is a reason for it

Pruning is one of the most important steps in growing fruit. By pruning back certain branches, we allow more sunlight and air flow to enter the trees. More sunlight means better color and bigger and sweeter fruit while more air flow means less tree disease. It also allows manageable tree height and favorable fruit set.

While it may look like we are pruning a lot, we are setting the stage for this years fruit crop.

As I sit here on this mild February day, I cant help to think of this year's happenings. From planting the remaining trees, weekly up keep, and picking the fruits of the labor. Raspberries, apples, plums, and pears. Here are a few "birds eye view" of the orchard and landscape. There are some amazing views from above. Hope you enjoy them as I have.

Want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us this season. From the shared posts, word of mouth, and swinging out to the orchard(some of you multiple times), we truly appreciate it. We've met some amazing people since we've started this orchard and are truly blessed.

We still have a few Snowsweet and Haralson apples left. If you'd still like some, message us. After this week, the remaining apples 🍎 will be donated.
