Tim and Elizabeth didn’t realize they would have the chance to bring two of their favorite things together until they gifted a candle set of molded manger pieces to Joanna Gaines, made from the wax of her own hives.
Tim had been working with bees and harvesting honey since childhood, and shortly after making this special gift, candle-making became a family endeavor. They began combining their own beeswax with their love of burning candles at home, and from there, started sharing their creations with others.
Their two oldest kids (ages 10 and 12) love the whole process, from harvesting the honey and beeswax to melting it down, cleaning, and pouring bright, beautiful candles. Tim says, “Each time we open a beehive, it becomes a journey of discovery, sometimes revealing a treasure trove of stored honey, pollen, and beeswax.”
If you visit the Bee Bright booth, you’ll often see their blonde-headed 12-year-old son, Joseph, either sitting at the register with a ready greeting or helping you pour your own molded candle in the hands-on section of the Market.
My favorite candle they make is a beeswax honeypot and dipper, into which you can actually put honey. It’s topped with an ornate wax lid with a little rounded handle—I just love it!
Swing by and pick up one of their pure beeswax candles!
