First week of June: Making hay, cultivating lettuce and beets, making mixed bouquets for Milford Farmers Market and our Farmstand. Next week-we're going to keep working on getting irrigation hooked up because somehow it feels like August already-dry and hot. We thought that if we hayed this week we'd definitely get rain....but it didn't work!

Saturday 9am-1pm at the Farm in Wantage
Sunday 10am-1pm at the Milford Farmers Market

Fresh cut Flowers & Produce & Seedlings at Farmers Markets this weekend!

Find us today (5/23) in Sparta, 9am-1pm at 89 Sparta Ave
Today at the Farmstand, 9am-1pm in Wantage
Tomorrow in Milford, 10am-1pm at Key Food

& Beautiful Mixed Bouquets (at the Farmstand & Milford Farmers Market)

I bought a book on overwintering hardy annual flowers last season after initial success with snapdragons and I wanted to see what we could do. So we seeded a bunch of stuff last August, planted outside in September and waited to see what would happen. Things got weedy, some things died after being crushed under row cover and snow and some things just downright thrived! Did I mention that the heat wave encouraged our entire tunnel full of snapdragons to all bloom in rapid succession? Dave is a pro at throwing together a mixed bouquet and we're having fun learning to grow flowers better every year. Our flowers are Certified Organic, just like everything else we grow, which means we just can't get some of the varieties we'd like to grow (organic seed is not available). But we're making do with what we can find and they're beautiful. Come out this weekend RAIN OR SHINE! and treat yourself or a friend to a gorgeous spring bouquet of flowers. Nothing brightens up a rainy day like a fresh bunch of flowers on the table.

Farm kids: These guys have been doing some heavy negotiating for more space on the farm for their garden this season. Their plan was drawn up last fall, seeds arrived in time for Christmas and they spent some time after school this week seeding in the greenhouse. High on their list of crops: giant pumpkins, watermelons, giant sunflowers and popcorn

Oh so close! We were hoping to have lots of blooms open for Mother's Day but it looks like we'll have to wait one more week as they're only just starting to open. It's been a fun adventure overwintering flowers and this year the cold winter in our unheated tunnel (that we never even got around to putting doors on!) hit the snapdragons harder than last winter. But they're looking good and I am continually amazed by the hardiness of these plants-even when they look dead they come back strong in the spring!

We're planting, are you planting? Find our Certified Organic Seedlings tomorrow, May 2nd at Opening day of the Sparta Farmers Market, 9am-1pm, 89 Sparta Ave AND at the Opening day of our Farmstand in Wantage, 9am-1pm, 185 Rose Morrow Rd.

We have beautiful plants that we moved outside earlier this week to "harden off"-we expose them to the wind, rain, direct sunlight and cooler temperatures to toughen them up and prepare them to be planted in your gardens!

Our plants are Certified Organic and Real Organic Project Certified. We use organic soil, organic seeds and everything is grown by us-by buying your seedlings from us you are supporting a small family farm and getting the best possible plant for this area as well-we choose varieties for seedling sales that grow well on our farm!

Temperatures look ok for planting this week-tomorrow night is the coldest of the 10 day forecast so you can probably try planting some of the warm weather crops like tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers if you are prepared to cover them for any surprise low temperatures. We also have plenty of cool weather loving seedlings as well-hope to see you out this weekend!

Here we go! Waited for those cold nights to pass this week and we've got the first beds prepped and planted with snap peas, radishes, arugula and turnips. And so many more plants waiting patiently waiting to be planted next week.

Our overwintered flowers are taking off- Sweet William, snapdragons, yarrow, rudbeckia, campanula, bupleurum and matricaria survived the freezing cold and snow this winter and are shooting up with the warming soil. Get ready for some local Certified Organic Flower bouquets in May and June!

The greenhouses are packed with Certified Organic Vegetable, Herb and Flower Seedlings ready to go home to your gardens starting May 2nd.

And we're hiring! Field crew, CSA Workshare and Farmers Market Positions - pay is $16 to $ 20 per hour DOE (or CSA Share trade for Workshare positions) with flexible scheduling, a friendly fast paced work environment and opportunities for growth. Signs of spring...garlic poking up through mulch and rye cover crop greening up in the field.

We're busy seeding every day in the greenhouse for our customers who love gardening.

Our Certified Organic Seedling Sales begin May 2nd on the farm and at the Sparta Farmers Market and May 10th at the Milford Farmers Market (new location in 2026 at Key Food)

We'll be planting the first field rounds of peas, kale, chard, spinach, lettuce and more soon!
