In Denmark, empathy isn’t just encouraged… it’s taught in schools. 💛
Since the early 1990s, Danish schools have included a special class called Klassens tid - or “class time” - for students aged 6 to 16. Every week, children gather with their teachers to talk openly about feelings, friendships, challenges, and respect for others. It’s a safe space where kindness, understanding, and teamwork are practiced, not just preached.
These empathy lessons are part of Denmark’s secret to raising some of the happiest children in the world. While some stories online say these classes also teach kids to care for animals, the official focus is on emotional intelligence, listening, and compassion toward people. Still, the message is the same - real education isn’t just about grades... it’s about growing hearts as well as minds.
Do you think all schools should have weekly classes that teach kindness, empathy, and emotional awareness? 🌍
