Our name, Southern Roots Market, is more than just a title—it’s a reflection of who we are, where we come from, and the traditions that shaped us.
Southern Roots Market is a blend of two places close to our hearts—Southwest Louisiana and Virginia. Thomas was raised in Louisiana, where the flavors are bold, the food is soulful, and community is everything. I grew up on the Middle Peninsula of Virginia, where Southern hospitality, fresh local ingredients, and time-honored food traditions run deep.
At the center of our logo is the bald cypress tree, a symbol of strength, resilience, and deep roots—just like our families, our values, and the local farmers we support. It’s also a special connection between us, as the bald cypress is native to both Louisiana and Virginia, standing tall in bayous, swamps, and along rivers in both states.
Just like this tree, Southern Roots Market is built on strong foundations:
