Join us this Saturday & every Saturday during the Winter for our used books & merch sale! We have reopened our room full of books so the selection is larger than our normal book cart at the MtP Farmers Market.

We will also have our limited hoodies, t-shirts, tote bags and children’s clothing.

As always we will have a free box of kids books!

If you have books to donate, you can drop them off on the second floor across from the Children’s section anytime the library is open!

The Embassy of Switzerland in the U.S. invites you to a special in-person, outdoor edition of the Swiss Film Club featuring the Swiss production Longing for the World (L'amour du monde, 2023).

Doors open: 7:00pm, Screening begins: 7:30pm

Set against the shimmering heat of summer on the shores of Lake Geneva, Longing for the World is a tender coming-of-age story that follows fourteen-year-old Margaux, as she forms unexpected bonds with Juliette, a seven-year-old in foster care, and Joël, a fisherman recently returned from Indonesia. Taking its title and inspiration from Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz's novel L'amour du monde, the film explores themes of connection, loneliness, and the desire to belong.

We encourage you to arrive early as space is limited. There is no seating in the plaza, so please bring your own chair or blanket. Food can be purchased from one of the many locally owned restaurants along Mount Pleasant Street. You may bring your own food and (non-alcoholic) beverages. No restrooms are available.

In the event of rain, the film screening will be postponed to Wednesday, August 27.

The film will be shown in French with English subtitles.

We hope you’re gearing up for a delicious and relaxing 4th of July weekend! Here’s what’s happening at the farm and how you can stock up for the holiday.

AROUND THE FARM
✅ The lambs headed to our leased farm today after doing a great job mowing down the grass in our front field. The only ones left are the rams, enjoying the quiet!

✅ We wormed the rest of the sheep today. They looked fantastic a month ago, but with the heat and rain, parasite levels exploded. We didn’t catch it soon enough, but they’re on the mend now.

✅ Big news — we bought a freeze dryer! We’ll be starting with pet treats (easy to ship!) and look forward to offering something new soon.

STOCK UP FOR THE WEEKEND!
We’ll be at all of our farmers markets rain or shine this week. We expect lots of folks to take home hot dogs, hamburgers, and all our other great selections for the grill and smoker. Don’t miss out!

AROUND THE FARM:

We’re down to just a few more chickens left to process, and soon the entire first group will be tucked away in the freezer. The next batch is heading out to pasture, and group three is scheduled to go into the brooder on the second. Chicken season is rolling right along!
Somehow, Memorial Day has snuck up on us again—but we’ll be ready. We’re fully stocked with all your favorites for the holiday weekend. While I always think our pasture-raised chicken deserves the spotlight on the grill (especially since so few farms raise chicken anymore), our sales consistently show that steaks are still the crowd favorite!

Bob picked up a fresh batch of hot meat sticks this week—just the hot variety this time, as it was a smaller run.

Between rainstorms, John and Bob managed to get a stretch of fencing finished—progress, even if it's a bit muddy. The wet weather also means hay season will be delayed for us this year.

Meanwhile, Bob and Aaron have been busy with the ups and downs of calving season. Thankfully, it’s been mostly ups—but when things go sideways, they can go fast, so we stay on high alert.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the market this week! We know you have lots of choices and full schedules, and we truly appreciate your continued support of our farm.

AROUND THE FARM:

We are really enjoying the weather! The exception was Sunday's unexpected early morning blast that had winds pushing 100mph for a short time. We had lots of downed trees and the power was out for about 14 hours. We have a generator that can keep the essentials going. Bob figured out after the fact the water pump needed to be plugged into a different place on the generator, so he spent the whole time trying to keep enough water in front of the animals. Fortunately, the pump was fine once the power came back up and not shorted out, which was his fear. Water is pretty important for livestock and the people who take care of them.

Early this week we picked up our second group of chickens for this season. The first group went out to the pasture Friday and got to experience the crazy weather up close and personal. We lost a few to the storm but it could have been much worse. These early spring birds are always at the greatest risk for unstable weather.

Lambs are popping out, Bob counted 29 Monday night. I think we will probably have about 90 this spring. The cows should be starting to calve anytime now.

We made the splurge to buy a new to us market van this week. Our old van spends a lot of time in the shop undergoing some very expensive repairs and we are hoping for something a bit more reliable. It's still a blue van you will recognize as an old Amazon van, but it is bigger than the old van, so we are moving up!
