Burns founded Goat Hill in 1988, when he returned to the United States to live after spending two decades overseas as a nutrition and agriculture consultant for maternal and child health care for UNICEF. One hour from the DC Beltway, a visit to Goat Hill is a comfortable day trip or can be well paired with vineyard visits, camping, artist studio hopping, or an overnight at The Inn at Little Washington.
