Her mom (Sara) being single at the time was struggling to provide for her the extras needed to prepare Khloe for the future. We (Nana and Papa) were experimenting with raising a few vegetables on some farmland owned by my parents and selling them at a roadside stand on Saturdays when we decided to use the revenue as a gift for Khloe. Thus Khloe's Garden was established. We could take a small inves
tment and grow it by producing a quality seasonal product for our valuable customers. Sara has since married a super great guy and even superer dad to Khloe, (Chuck). They are providing an excellent childhood for Khloe, and we are trying to maintain Khloe's Garden, to establish a fund for the parents of other special needs kids. However in February of this year I lost my job of 32 years and am currently on unemployment and what jobs I can pick up as a millwright, so the revenue from Khloe's Garden is being used to sustain itself for now. So far the expeditures (no labor included we do this for love and therapy) are about even with the sales but if the weather permits our greens sales around the holidays will put us in the black but this is farming and on a small scale. I did say for now because my job prospects are going to work out and I will once again be able to provide more than labor for what we think is a good thing. We have had a fair year and it appears we may be able to increase the fund (knock on wood). We sell only products grown in the immediate area, not organic but we know where it's been. If you like excellent quality, home grown (just like granddad used to grow) veggies check us out.
