Dear valued customers,
For the last few months, I've seen businesses close on the Northeast (Eastside) side of Waterloo. As a person who grew up in the city, I had to ask myself "why this is happening and how can I continue to help." I could have blamed the companies or city government or even taken to social media and say how bad the businesses were run, but that would have been the easy and unfair way to do things.
The first thing I did was look at myself and what I could do better as a businessperson and what I can do more of. As many of you know, we developed All In Grocers in 2023 to fill a need within our city that could help with continued investment from other real estate developers. It's been 52 years since a grocery store was in the community, but All In Grocers and Grandmas Hands Development are here now. This is the first store that we've ever built, and millions of dollars invested in this community. But in our joy and celebration of finally getting a store I made mistakes. Mistakes of getting a wholesaler that was charging too much for cost of goods and the mistake of layout of products for easier customer shopping experience. If these mistakes are not corrected All In Grocers development will also be leaving our community like the rest of the chain stores that left.
To make sure our investment into this community will remain intact, All In Grocers and Grandmas Hands Restuarant will be TEMPORARILY closing from August 12th to September 16th in order for our new wholesaler with lower cost of goods and expanded product line can fully reset for better quality of product at a fair price. We are fighting to stay in the community while others left and told us to adjust to their absence. It's something about being from Waterloo (THE LOO) that gives you that extra fire to succeed. In order for this to happen, we must meet each other as a community in the middle and not only shop All In and Grandma's Hands we must support every business that calls Waterloo home.
Several new businesses need your support, I will not try to name them because I will not remember to include everyone. Opening and operating these businesses are not easy but can be successful. I'm not on social media but wanted to get this out to the community to hear the real story. Those of you that support, thank you very much. And to those of you that are still waiting to give us the opportunity to earn your business, please stay tuned. I LOVE Waterloo and will continue to invest in Waterloo. I will never hide behind a phone or computer keyboard to make a statement about people and what they are not doing, that's a waste of time. I'm going to join the fight to make our community better, we would ask you to join our community, thank you for your care and accountability, see you soon!
Sincerely,
Rodney A. Anderson
