ENJOYING TIME WITH THREE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL GRANDDAUGHTERS AT THE SUGAR HOUSE

The 2019 maple sugaring season is underway! The beginning of January we moved into our living quarters at the sugar house. The maple trees in our 100 acre sugar bush were tapped at the beginning of Februay. We boiled sap for the first time this season on February 10th. Like the rest of you waiting for the warmer weather, we are also anticipating the weather needed for the sap to run.

Glen is busy checking the tubing and repairing leaks that are caused by the winds that blow down sticks, branches and trees that cause them damage. He is also constantly on the lookout for animal chews in the tubing. In order for the vacuum that pulls the sap to the sugarhouse to be at it’s full capacity there cannot be any leaks in the tubing. Between the weather and the animals, checking the tubing in the sugarbush is a full time job.
