Philomena Vaccaro, also known as Aunt Mamie, was born in the small southern town of San Nicola Dell'Alto, Italy. Her family migrated to America when she was a small child, and lived in Pennsylvania her whole life. Over the years, she learned traditional Italian recipes that would eventually be passed on through the generations. Mike Vaccaro, one of Philomena's sons, is a first generation Italian-A
merican, and the co-owner and founder of Aunt Mamie's Italian Specialties. He and his wife, Theresa Vaccaro, have kept Philomena's special recipes moving throughout the family. Mike's daughter was lucky enough to grow up knowing her grandmother Philomena, and has watched her roll Gnocchi and hang pasta to dry for Sunday dinner. The third generation Italian-Americans of the family, Mike and Theresa's grandchildren, were never able to meet Philomena, but are learning the art of pasta making through their grandparents. We have loved these family recipes for many years, and truly hope you can all enjoy and cherish them as much as the Vaccaro family does.
