The past few years we been determined to follow the “just keep moving forward” mindset. Throughout many learning opportunities we made lists and got to work!

With over 50 raised beds, numerous ground beds and every spot we could use around the house and shop our fields just keep growing and growing.

As we are nearing the end of the current lists, we have time to stop and look around at all we have accomplished! Every bed is planted and will soon be full of beautiful blooms.

So Betsy and I decided to follow what truly felt like God’s lead to something a bit crazy.

The signs were everywhere! Pointing us in a direction we hadn’t dare travel previously. But we threw caution to the wind & forged on.

Long story short, we way over bought and called in extra help. My sisters and mother-in-law helped us build 237 bouquets to sell during Miami’s graduation weekend.

What did we make? $0

What did we learn? Priceless lessons that can ONLY be found in the biggest mistakes.

So here goes…

Number 1! God does speak to us. But what we THINK He is saying, isn’t always what He’s actually saying.

2. We can venture into new territory successfully and needn’t be afraid to try.

3. Family and their support means everything. And without it, one isn’t much more than hopes and dreams.

4. A reminder: I (we) have been bestowed a skill set and knowledge that I (we) have always been able to build on. It has become my calling over the last 3 decades BUT I didn’t come upon it accidentally and it has purpose.

And most importantly, Number 5.

My skills and genuine drive to put them to good use does not exist solely as a means of making a living. But it exists as my opportunity to be God’s hands and feet, to do His WORK. Even if it feels embarrassing and born from humiliating loss. Because isn’t that the point?

You see, we didn’t even sell half of that 237. And after 2 days of hoping Mother Nature would PLEASE STOP RAINING, things didn’t get any better!!

So last Sunday morning, I dropped lots of “leftovers” at our local community churches. I felt a pretty silly but the looks of total surprise and appreciation began to ease my broken ego.

But then I get to church today! And God himself showered me with the real payoff from last week’s work.

Stories of how those flowers were doing and what they had meant to those who received them. The stories from people who had taken extras and shared them with people I have never met and what they did for those people.

It was amazing. And frankly, although not profitable in the way we had intended, it was just as gratifying.

So thank you to those who expressed their gratitude today. I am blessed.

Take a look!

Peony Harvesting has been in full swing!

We wait a year for the fun to begin.

Then quickly remember why we were so glad it was over last year when it ended. 🤪 it’s a long tedious process of timing. Lots of hurry up & wait! And cutting. And stripping. And wrapping. And refrigerating.

You see, we harvest every single bloom on our healthy and wildly productive peony plants.

Because we store them in a cooler over several weeks (sometimes months) depending on various needs.

Since they started popping, our Peonies have already been included in our Weekly Subscriptions + the first wedding.

We will be using them for several more weddings and in retail arrangements as they come.
