If it blooms in spring, like Lilacs or Forsythia, wait until after it flowers to prune. Cutting these shrubs too early means removing this year’s flower buds before they have a chance to open.
A well-timed trim keeps your plants healthy and ensures a spectacular show. Waiting until the blooms fade is the best way to maintain the natural shape and vigor of your spring favorites.
