Did you know, Phil Gilbert’s Shoe Parlor in Vicksburg, Mississippi, was the first store to sell shoes in pairs, in 1884.
Before that, people bought shoes one at a time, often right from a cobbler, made to fit.

Did you know the string on cartons of animal cracker treats was put on the box in 1902 so that the boxes could be hung on Christmas trees, the packaging was a hit, and the smaller box, string and all, is still produced today.

On this day in 2001, “King of the Blues” John Lee Ho**er died at the age of 83. The highly influential singer, songwriter, and guitarist topped the R&B chart with his first single, 1948’s “Boogie Chillen,” and continued to score hits for the next 50 years, including “Dimples,” “The Healer,” and his signature tune, “Boom Boom.”
