Brewer's Market Small grocery store located 3 miles south of the MD PA line on Rt. 97 In the summer of 1965 George I. Bemiller's business was for sale by his widow.

Guy Brewer had the dream of owning his own business. October 18, 1965 Brewer's Market opened. Guy remained at Black & Decker in Hampstead working the store evenings, weekends & vacations for ten years. Doris was the day time person. Having lived almost her entire life in Silver Run, it was an instant fit to be "home". The early days at Brewer's Market were indeed a learning experience. At some poi

nt in history the market would sell dog licenses, hunting licenses, be a pay bill agent for BGE & even sell gas briefly in addition to selling groceries, meats, produce, dairy, frozen food & general merchandise. The community was growing so in 1973 & addition was made to the original market. It was then the store front changed to a southern exposure with a newly formed parking lot. In August of 1975 Guy was able to become full time at Brewer's Market. New faces were filling the community & growth was happening. In these years Kathy & Doug were very much a part of a family business. In 1985 Doug left college to be part of the family business full time. His return set in motion the building of a new store at the top of the parking lot. Groundbreaking was held August 18, 1988. January 23, 1989 the current store opened the doors. The new venture brought changes & made a convenience store into a full service grocery store. Always listening to the customer's wishes & ideas helped the store to prosper. The larger location & many new products kept the years flying by. In April of 2005 Doug purchased Brewer's Market. Doug has enlarged the area of mulch, topsoil, & stone to add sales. He has focused on catering & working with organizations to help grow the business. Brewer's Market is evolving in the new era. Doug has a lifetime of experience in the business. He definitely enjoys all aspects of the market. Interacting with the clients makes the job a joy.
