Ward Farm

Ward Farm Locally Sustainable fruits and veggies. Meet the Wards! Ryan and Emma, decided that we weren't busy enough in the first year of happily-ever-after.

So we are working to restart a wonderful local family that unfortunately was out of production for several years. We are focused on growing sustainably. As our first year is underway, we are staying small and work out kinks in soil quality and getting things back in working order. We have a small apple orchard and quite a selection of vegetables. We're always on the lookout for interesting and uni

que varieties of produce as well as ways to eat, cook, and prepare them! We are beginning to work with a local school to help answer that pesky question, " Where does food come from?" Giving kids of all backgrounds and abilities, the opportunity to learn more about agriculture and the environment. The garden is doing very well! Everything that made it on so far is producing and we are looking to finish at least one more bed and replant some things for a fall harvest.

Our Story

Meet the Wards! Ryan and Emma been involved with agriculture in some form since we were kids. Several years ago we started a grand adventure and leased a former organic farm. During that year we partnered with a local school and invited several different classes to join us and learn where our food really comes from, as well as all the work that goes into our dinners. After our year lease was up we had to downsize from 30+ acres with orchards to TWO very modest garden beds. This was a huge adjustment for us, but we were able to start researching many different methods of growing produce.

A few years ago we purchased a home of our own and shortly after discovered our family was going to be growing by two pairs of hands. Sharing our love of the outdoors, and gardening was a top priority for us. The boys were born the Spring of 2016 and figuring out the new normal took most of the summer. Spring 2017 we decided to jump back into the garden. We had some success and learned a lot (babies and weeding donโ€™t mix).

This year we are trying something new by planting in pallets. We are trying to cut down on wasted space and wasted time weeding. It has been very fun figuring out planting pairs for each garden pallet. We canโ€™t wait to start harvesting!
