Meet the Wards! Ryan and Emma been involved with agriculture in some form since we were kids. Several years ago we started a grand adventure and leased a former organic farm. During that year we partnered with a local school and invited several different classes to join us and learn where our food really comes from, as well as all the work that goes into our dinners. After our year lease was up we had to downsize from 30+ acres with orchards to TWO very modest garden beds. This was a huge adjustment for us, but we were able to start researching many different methods of growing produce.
A few years ago we purchased a home of our own and shortly after discovered our family was going to be growing by two pairs of hands. Sharing our love of the outdoors, and gardening was a top priority for us. The boys were born the Spring of 2016 and figuring out the new normal took most of the summer. Spring 2017 we decided to jump back into the garden. We had some success and learned a lot (babies and weeding donโt mix).
This year we are trying something new by planting in pallets. We are trying to cut down on wasted space and wasted time weeding. It has been very fun figuring out planting pairs for each garden pallet. We canโt wait to start harvesting!
