Several of you have asked for my Granny Thom’s spicy mustard recipe.

So let me tell you this so I can tell you that…..this recipe this came out of a bohemian woman’s recipe Box from probably 1835-1850. It survived the test of farmers and farm hands and was requested again and again. It is a HOT item that can be calmed down with lighter vinegar and more sugar. But, the original recipe was made to help cut the fat on pork when it came off a stove still swimming in grease or on a cold sandwich.
Be aware of the process and trust it. You can adjust as you go along. I suggest you start small😉

The size mustard can you buy
Take 2 flour
And 2 or more sugar
A pinch of salt
Mix real good
Add heated vinegar and some Turmeric for color to make a paste.
Taste as it usually needs more sugar.
Don’t be discouraged as it tastes terrible when first made.

😂Any questions! This is equivalent to the popular hot honey mustard served with pretzels. I have poured honey in as well as extra sugar. And I used white vinegar instead of Apple Cider vinegar unless you want your sinuses instantly cleared and a bit of burn to go with it. Let sit in your frig for at least a month.

While digging through the freezer this afternoon, I found these beautiful cranberries in the bottom. I usually put up about 30 pints of cranberries in the fall. We enjoy them greatly, and they are an easy item to process. But ours are all gone and this is a special treat to have along with our pork chops and fresh sweet corn tonight.
