We were recently recognized as a Top Contributor in the Modern Homesteading Conference, and honestly… that means a lot to us.

As a family that runs a farm stand, helps operate a farmers market, and lives this lifestyle every day, the homesteading community is something we genuinely care about.

If you’ve never experienced the Modern Homesteading Conference, it is an incredible event filled with passionate people, practical knowledge, real world demonstrations, and the kind of conversations that leave you inspired long after you get home.

This year’s conference takes place in Coeur d'Alene on June 26–27, and if homesteading, small farming, gardening, livestock, food preservation, or self sufficiency are part of your world… it is absolutely worth attending.

🌾 Farm Stand Hunt #2 | Whatcom County, Washington 📍

Today we hit the road in search of hidden local farm stands… and once again, we found some absolute gems. 👀

Our first stop was Lori’s Farm Stand on E. Wiser Lake Rd, and what a way to start the day. Fresh eggs 🥚, homemade baked goods 🍞, beautiful flowers 🌷, happy chickens, a spotless property… and best of all, the chance to slow down, chat with Lori, and meet her family. Those genuine conversations and connections are what make supporting local so special.

After that, we explored the City of Lynden and came across several beautiful self serve flower stands bursting with color. On the way home, we found two more hidden roadside gems—one stocked with farm fresh goods, and another featuring some truly unique handmade gifts and décor that caught our attention.

This is exactly why we built Farmstander — helping people discover real food, real growers, and the incredible families behind them.

Put in 5 hours of coding today working on Farmstander.

Some days everything clicks.
Some days it doesn’t.

Today was one of those slower grind days… but that’s part of building a better app for farm stands and farmers markets.

Progress isn’t always flashy. It’s small fixes, testing, reworking, and improving how people discover local food, find farm stands nearby, and connect with small producers.

We’re building Farmstander to make it easier to support local farmers and grow the local food community.
