My produce stand is a self-service farm stand based on the honor system. I have a little mason jar with a few dollars for customers to make change if needed. Recently someone has been taking eggs without leaving payment. Mistakes happen, but this has happened three times.
My heart is heavy because the money I leave out in my change jar is still there, it’s just eggs missing. That speaks to a need more than a want & I pray that this person needed eggs more than I need the money.
I have offered eggs for donation in the past and I’m happy to provide eggs to those in need. Here’s the tricky part; the eggs on the stand meet the state of Maryland’s egg grading guidelines. I have perfectly fine eggs that are just a bit too small to sell on the stand. Those are the eggs I use for our household or donate to customers in need.
