NEWS: Proposed Hunting Seasons 🦌
📝 Deer, waterfowl, and small game hunting seasons were included in the proposals given to Ohio Wildlife Council. Most seasons are similar to last year. The public comment period is open through Wednesday, April 1.

📅 As in years past, only one antlered deer may be harvested, regardless of where or how it is taken. Hunting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. The proposed statewide deer hunting dates for 2026-27 include:
🔵 Deer archery: Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, to Sunday, Feb. 7, 2027
🔵 Youth deer gun: Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026, and Sunday, Nov. 22, 2026
🔵 Deer gun: Monday, Nov. 30, 2026 to Sunday, Dec. 6, 2026; Saturday, Dec. 19, 2026, and Sunday, Dec. 20, 2026
🔵 Deer muzzleloader: Saturday, Jan. 2, 2027, to Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2027

Thanks to Ohio’s hunters and a strong partnership between ODNR and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, 3,350 pounds of processed venison were collected during deer gun season to help stock local food pantries. That’s thousands of meals for families across the state! 🦌

More donation days are coming during the additional gun weekend and muzzleloader season. Hunters can drop off properly tagged deer at:

📍 Hardin County Fairgrounds

🧡 Congratulations Ohio hunters! 🙌
🦌 So far this deer season, archery and fi****ms hunters have taken a total of 124,984 deer through Monday, Dec. 1. Hunters ages 17 and younger checked 9,759 deer in the two-day youth season on Nov. 22-23.

🦌 NEWS: Ohio hunters checked 23,149 white-tailed deer on Monday, Dec. 1 during the opening day of the weeklong gun hunting season. This year’s opening day harvest total includes 8,315 antlered deer and 14,834 antlerless deer.

🗓️ Ohio offers many other opportunities for deer hunters to spend time in the field in the coming weeks!
🔶 Young hunters can use fi****ms during the youth gun season Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23.
🔶 A seven-day gun season opens statewide to all hunters on Monday, Dec. 1, and continues through Sunday, Dec. 7.
🔶 An additional gun weekend occurs Saturday, Dec. 20 and Sunday, Dec. 21.
🔶 The late muzzleloader hunting season will be Saturday, Jan. 3 through Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.

🚧 Traffic Update for Wackers Customers 🚧
Crews are working on the Quitter Road Bridge today (Thursday, Oct. 16) through November 7. The bridge may be closed for up to 20 minutes at a time, so please expect delays if you’re dropping off or picking up deer.

🔶 Upcoming Deer Hunting Seasons 📅
🦌 Ohio has additional deer hunting options to accompany the current statewide archery season. The two-day youth gun season is Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22-23. The statewide seven-day gun season is open from Monday, Dec. 1 to Sunday, Dec. 7. An additional two-day gun season for all hunters is Dec. 20-21, followed by late-season muzzleloader hunting Jan. 3-6, 2026.
