Piney Woods Ranch is an organic farm without any certification. We strictly follow the USDA organic program.

Having discovered that supermarket food is either made in labs from just one or two GMO crops, or raised in CAFOs under appalling conditions for the animal's health and well-being, and consequently OUR health - we decided to grow, raise, and provide our own healthy, drug and chemical-free food for ourselves and other discerning folks. Will be at the Winnsboro Farmers Market tomorrow (Saturday June 6th) with our first harvest of organic blueberries. We will also have organic pastured eggs and organic blueberry jam (made only with our organic blueberries and organic sugar). Hope to see you tomorrow from 8 am- Noon.

Oh my lard! It’s been awhile but it’s back. We just made a fresh batch of organic lard from the fat of our home grown organically raised large black hogs. Jarred and frozen for freshness. This will last a year or more in the freezer and six months or more in the refrigerator. $7 each, packed in new jars. Message me if you want one. I can deliver to downtown Winnsboro, Texas.

Weeded, fertilized (again), and mulched. See you next spring asparagus. We enjoyed you. We’ll be at the Winnsboro Farmers’ Market again this Saturday with fresh organic eggs, elderberry plants, and maybe a little rhubarb. Golden zucchini in a few more weeks. Saturday 8 am - Noon under cover on Elm and Mill Street this week because of that 4 letter word “rain”.

We will have some organic asparagus at the market this Saturday. Not a lot but it will go fast so get there early if you want some. Also, organic eggs and some plants (4" pots of organic yellow zucchini). Saturday April 13 from 8 am until Noon. Looks like it's going to rain so we will be at 112 W. Elm under the covered overhang of the Baptist Church.

We’re back! The chickens are laying again and we’ve got lots of eggs from free range real organically fed chickens. No pesticides, chemicals, or drugs. Just eggs from chickens who gets lots of sunshine, greens, bugs, and USDA organic chicken feed. Winnsboro Farmers Market today (4/6/2019) from 8 - Noon on Mill and Elm Street.

Shady Grove Ranch of Jefferson Texas is a family owned and run farm that raises pastured pork and poultry: Non-GMO, soy-free, hormone and antibiotic free on pasture, fresh air and living in the great outdoors. They have become a registered vendor of the Winnsboro Farmers' Market and we (Piney Woods Ranch) will be selling their pork chops, bacon, and whole chicken and our eggs and lard and Jersey Girls yogurt and cheese. Come see us this Saturday and every Saturday until October 28 from 8 am until Noon on Market Street in downtown Winnsboro, Texas. Also taking orders for holiday turkeys and ham. To all of our friends, fans, and customers - A few months ago we made the decision to stop raising pigs at Piney Woods Ranch. Though we love the pork, and everybody who has tried it agreed it was great - it just wasn't a good "match" for us.

Of course, this raised the important question "Where are we going to get our bacon and chops from now?" We knew we would never be happy with supermarket pork, so we set out to find a local pork producer that raised pigs the way we would do it.

GOOD NEWS! We have found some great pork!

Shady Grove Ranch of Jefferson Texas is a family owned and run farm that raises pastured pork, poultry, and beef - and does it in a way that makes us smile. Non-GMO, soy-free feed, pasture, fresh air and living in the great outdoors. These are the things that make for great pork, poultry, and beef.

We connected with Matt and Jerica - whom we had met and talked with a few years ago - and told them that Winnsboro Farmers' Market was now without a pork producer. Turns out that they have LOTS of pigs and would love to see their pork being sold at our market!

Long story short - We've signed Shady Grove Ranch u as a vendor for the market and will have their pastured pork and chicken at the Piney Woods Ranch booth at the Market starting on Saturday, September 16th. Stop by if you're looking for some great bacon, meaty chops, or some super chicken! We have limited quantities available now with more to come. We've also arranged for you to order ahead - including hams and turkey for the holidays!

Ahhhhh - bacon is back. Life if good again!
