Mad River Market, LLC food co-op needs 7 to 13 volunteers from among the membership to serve on the Board of Directors to continue the work of developing a cooperative food market in the area.
BE ADVISED that MRM board membership is NOT an honorary title. It requires a working board to grow membership, plan, and seek funding to develop the co-op.

IF YOU ARE WILLING AND ABLE TO WORK TO DEVELOP A LOCAL FOOD CO-OP, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL BEFORE THE END OF NOVEMBER TO [email protected]

See Norfolk Now August 3, 2025 article:

Norfolk residents who invested in the Mad River Market (MRM) in the past will be interested to note that a new initiative has been launched to revitalize the market cooperative that was sidetracked by the onset of the Covid pandemic. A group of former board members of the co-op has stepped forward t...

Good afternoon, cooperators! Based on member/owner feedback, we had a quick discussion last night about next steps. We are a member-guided entity, so we have to make sure it is possible for members to guide. Stay tuned for next steps and to find ways that you can get involved!

After a *great* deal of fussing, it seems that this is really the only way to share the bylaws through the page. This type of information sharing is much easier with a website, but we no longer have a website due to the fees associated with domain hosting and website generation. I have triple-checked the permissions, so this should absolutely not require you to set up an account with this service. If folks are still having difficulties accessing the bylaws, please let me know. I do wish that there were more I could do!

Good morning, Cooperators! I am going to change the statement on this page to reflect the actual mission statement of the co-op, and below, invite you to review the bylaws. These are the regulations that govern the management of the co-op, as voted on and approved by member/owners at the annual meeting held in 2019. Any questions at this time are likely to answered by this document, but if there are more, please share them!

A common concern we are seeing in comments here is that collaborating with the New Hartford folks means "giving up" on the potential of a storefront in Winsted.
*This is not the case.*
Collaboration is a key principle in cooperatives. Expanding our pool of collaborators means more information becomes available. More member/owners learn about *both* efforts. More local farmers learn about the possiblities of working with a cooperative.
Does it mean two storefronts in the Northwest Corner? Well, it might. Does it mean a storefront and a bulk delivery option? Possibly. Does it mean something else entirely? It genuinely could. There are a LOT of pieces to be considered as this develops.
The meeting recording is linked below because this topic is addressed in the meeting. I apologize for the re-sharing of information, but it seems that this meeting recording might not be as easy for folks to find as it was intended to be!

Good afternoon, Cooperators! Many of you have received the email, but others might find the message here more useful. Please weigh in!

Dear Mad River Market member/owners:
It has been entirely too long since we have shared thoughts and space with each other! I am a former Board member reaching out to connect with everyone so that we can schedule a meeting in early May. Keep watch for that invitation! For now, could you please let me know what email address works well for you (by message, please! protect your information!) or if you would prefer a different method of contact? We want to know what will work for you!

Kathy (Kat) Engle-Dulac, former Board member of MRM
