The importance of purchasing bulk pickling cucumbers from a local farm that grows their cucumbers on a trellis instead of in the dirt. I got 25 pounds of these to make my yearly pickles not knowing the cucumbers were grown on the dirt. Now I’ve spent all day soaking and scrubbing each and every one. My back, feet, and neck are shot. I will never purchase from the Farmstand on Melrose in Roseburg Oregon again. Cucumbers grown on trellises are clean and can be easily sold, good for the producer and the customer. Clean cucumbers with a little wash and scrub on my part would have saved me an entire day. Now I have a two day canning procedure. Homemade pickles are the best but none of these will be gifts this year, only for the family🌱
