Mr. Blount you will be so missed π’ On behalf of myself and my organization we are sending our sincerest condolences to your familyππΎ If you did anything cultural in Central Florida you have met Mr. Blount and you have had his full support because he loved the arts. I first met him when he was giving a speech at an OCPS school board meeting and I said WOW this brother truly loves the arts! I would go on to see Mr. Blount at cultural events around town and he worked for many organizations to highlight their arts programs. I seen Mr. Blount at so many arts events I just figured that if he didn't come to your event you simply didn't have a good event π. Yet the one thing I didn't know about Mr. Blount that I didn't find out until the 50th Anniversary of Essence Magazine was that he was one of the original creators of the publication and then that's when his whole aura made so much sense!! Mr. Blount was the embodiment of Sophisticated Blackness a true Black Dandy, A true spokesperson for the culture, and for Black women....He saw us!! As a person who literally had an Essence Magazine in my hand from the time I learned how to read...meeting anyone that made Essence Magazine is such an honor!! Essence Magazine rose above all the noise to let Black Women know they were beautiful and I'm forever thankful to know that Mr. Blount was part of the legacy that let so many Black Women know they were beautiful, love, cared for, and appreciated!! Thank you Mr. Blount!! We honor you ππΎ! Rest Well Dear Brother and thank you for the great hugs and encouragement, thank you for Essence, and thank you for uplifting our culture!! β¨β¨β¨β¨
