We planted 2 pounds of onions, 50 pounds of potatoes, carrots, beets and so much more! Our garden is currently exploding and so the weeding begins..
Last year we went for flavor, and we grew many varieties. However, this year my goal is quantity. I would like to fill my pantry with food from this summer and fall to last me through the winter. Something that is becoming more and more apparent is the lack of nutritional value in our foods. For me a healthy diet does not just consist of eating protein, fruits and vegetables.
It’s eating foods at their peak, nutritional value, grown fresh containing all those micro nutrients. Micro dense foods packed with vitamins and minerals. Growing our own meats and eventually producing our own dairy products filled with prebiotics and probiotics. All the goods germs we need for our guts. Because people aren’t made to just have protein we need vitamins, minerals, and “the good bugs” in our bodies.
I am not perfect, I obviously still shop at the grocery store. But if you had the choice, wouldn’t you want the better option?
The foods from our grocery stores has been sitting in crates for months, even up to a year. They may look delicious, but they are lacking all of the things your body really needs..
