Delightfully exhausted. That’s the best way to describe how we’re feeling after our first full weekend of back-to-back markets.

We saw so many familiar faces, met so many new ones, and felt the kind of support that fills your heart right up.

After months of planning, prepping, organizing, and hoping for a great season, this weekend reminded us exactly why we do this.
We do it for the conversations.
For the laughter.
For the families making memories.
For the joy of seeing our community come together to support local farmers, artisans, and small businesses.

To everyone who came out this weekend... thank you. Thank you for showing up, for shopping local, for bringing your friends, for spreading the word, and for making these markets feel like so much more than just a place to shop.

This coming week, we catch our breath just a little with one market in Myersville on Saturday... and then the following week, all three markets are back-to-back and the season will officially be in full swing.

Fresh, flavorful, and fabulously tender, asparagus from Spruce Run Farm finally arrives at the Market tomorrow. These sensational spring spears are the very definition of seasonal goodness. They're crisp, delicious, and perfect for roasting, grilling, or sautéing.

One of the sweetest parts of shopping at the market is discovering the fresh, seasonal produce our local growers bring week after week. As the season unfolds, the harvest changes with it, bringing something new, delicious, and delightfully fresh to the tents all season long.

Stop by each week to see what’s popping up and enjoy the best flavors each season has to offer!

Even following a very succesful Indoor Season, the first few markets of the Outdoor season always feel a little like finding our rhythm again.

This is our first week with multiple market days in quite a while, so if you visit us in Brunswick on Friday or Myersville on Saturday and we seem a little rusty, it’s because we probably are!

Behind the scenes, the work of the season is in full swing, and the harvest is getting more exciting by the day. Last week we pulled and cleaned our first Spring Onions, and this week we’re harvesting the first big crop of Asparagus. Both of these are some of the freshest, most flavorful signs that the local growing season is really here.

There’s nothing quite like those first harvests of Spring, and we’re proud to bring them to market for you at prices that stay affordable while the flavor stays top notch.

Every early morning, every harvest, every bunch cleaned and packed is done with the hope that our community will come out and support local farms. When you shop with us, you make all that hard work worth it.

So come see us this weekend, fill your bags with fresh spring vegetables, and help make these first busy market days of the season one to celebrate.

I’m so bad at taking selfies... , as the kids say. But here I am harvesting watercress for today’s Myersville Farmers' Market.

It’s my absolute favorite leafy green, and if you don’t already love it, I hope you’ll let me convince you to give it a try. It has a crisp texture, a slightly peppery flavor, and it’s packed with nutrition.

If you’re not a huge fan of other leafy greens, watercress is a great substitute in everything from omelets to soups, salads, and sandwiches.

I’m hoping to see lots of familiar faces at today’s market. It’s going to be a great one!

Meet Farmer Kenny of Spruce Run Farm at tomorrow's Spring Preview market.

He’s the beekeeper, seed starter, shepherd/goatherder, chicken whisperer, tractor driver, and so much more. Got a question about farming? Be ready to sit back and listen. He loves talking about every little thing that goes into growing, raising, and producing the food we all love.

Kenny lives by the classics: “Know your Farmer, Know your Food,” “No Farms, No Food,” and especially "If you ate today...thank your Farmer." Stop by, ask him anything, and hear the passion behind every crop, critter, and jar.

Our first Watercress harvest of the year was a little small, but its still early in the season. We're bringing just 4 bags (½lb ea.) to the Myersville Indoor Market tomorrow... first come, first served.

It surprises people to find out that I don't just go barefoot all day everyday, but it's true. In fact, while the weather was still nice and warm on Thursday I actually wandered around outside without socks and shoes on for the first time since my surgery. I have to admit, it felt really, really, good.

Of course, Friday had other plans (cold and wet), and while Saturday tried to redeem itself, it still wasn’t quite barefoot season yet. Still, it felt like getting back to normal, one step at a time.

We took advantage of this last market-free weekend before the season kicks into full swing and spent it soaking up some time in West Virginia. Quiet moments, fresh air, and just a little bit of that early spring reset before things get wonderfully busy again. This coming week, you'll find us at the last Indoor market of the season, in Myersville on Saturday.
..and don’t worry, there'll be no foot photos here. Instead, enjoy Kenny and Stoney, who firmly believe that any moving object is meant to be ridden. Honestly, if Stoney’s legs were just a bit longer, I’m convinced he’d be pedaling a bicycle by now.

It feels like we have been eating a little fancy lately! Last night was baked scallops with lemony orzo and steamed asparagus. It was simple to pull together and tasted like something you would order out. Of course, I forgot to take a photo.

The night before, though, Kenneth really outdid himself. He made osso bucco for the first time using beautiful shanks from Waltz Family Farm. He browned them, then slowly braised them with broth and a pan full of roasted carrots, onions, celery, and garlic. The whole house smelled incredible for hours. Traditionally it is served with risotto, and he was ready to take on that challenge too, but I convinced him that one new dish at a time was enough and we went with mashed potatoes. They were perfect for soaking up that rich, velvety sauce.

Both meals sounded far more complicated than they actually were and neither one kept us in the kitchen all evening. We probably will not stack dishes like this back to back very often, but they are definitely going into the regular rotation. Next time we might even be brave enough to try the risotto.

I am pretty lucky to share a kitchen with someone who is always willing to try something new and make an ordinary night feel like a special occasion. I do most of the cooking around here, but my style tends to focus on simple, solid meals (basic sustenance rather than fine dining) so it’s easy to forget just how good a cook Kenny is. He grew up in a family full of excellent cooks and certainly follows in their footsteps, bringing that intuition, patience, and love of flavor to every dish. However, he also learned to cook for an army, and now scaling down to just three people can be… challenging, to say the least.
