We really stress the importance of dental care in veterinary medicine. Our domesticated canids don’t have the benefit of having to physically chew through things like bone and hide. These teeth belong to our livestock guard dog Mr. T. He recently found a dried deer hide that he’s been chewing on. No rawhides necessary! He also is known to kill the occasional groundhog or skunk and gets additional tooth action there. Your dog isn’t likely to have this access so you will need to provide routine dental care (AOHC approved chews, daily brushing or wiping, yearly teeth cleaning at the vet’s).
