A SWEET CORN UPDATE...I wandered through our corn patch today. Most of the corn remains just shy of ripe. It will take a few more days to have a pick-able amount of ripe sweet corn. Look for me at Hejdahl's parking lot on Sunday morning at 11:00.

August 2017 at the Rocky Ridge Ranch. The Serendipity Sweet Corn at our ranch is at the young and tender age. Ready for picking but it should be perfect by August the 22nd!! Give me a call if you'd like to have me bring a dozen or two to Carrington on Wednesday. I planted only enough to pick maybe 500 dozen this summer...I've chosen not to be at the market as much this summer...(something to do with my luv of walleye fishing)...but I'll be bringing enough to Hejdahl's Parking Lot to provide for my loyal customers. Call me and I'll set aside a couple dozen for you.

I planted fields of Millet, rye, and oats for the wildlife on our ranch. Everything and everyone can eat great stuff :)

So, give me a call or stop by to pick some up. I plan on being set up by about 3:00 PM Wednesday and maybe Sunday morning at 11:00 AM. Phone 701 368 8886. See you then!

More perfect ears of Serendipity Sweet Corn. I brought these home after my market sales today. We are making cream corn out of about 75 of these ears. We're approaching a harvest of about 6K ears so far...1/3 of the way through our patches....we have acres of a bumper crop still in our fields. Great reviews on our sweet corn this summer :) ...and the c***s haven't got into any of it yet!

Our fall Pumpkin harvest officially begins on Labor Day. I'll bring a few to the Wednesday August 31st market in Carrington to show the 2016 varieties we'll have.

Squash harvest is slated to begin later this week, too.

Keep an eye out for us at Hejdahls parking lot.

Three photos from August 20th, 2016...today. The last of my large beets were pulled today to fill an order...wish I had more ready. I have one more row of beets planted. Hopefully they'll come along to be rieady to bunch up and sell by mid-September.

I waded into the depths of my Serendipity Sweet Corn field this morning. It looks like about 1 of every 40 first ears on the stalks are ready...that ratio still means a lot of those ears are ready...they'll mature fast this week with high temps in the mid 80's. Tomorrow they'll be 1 of 20 ready...then 1 of 10 on Tuesday...and by Wednesday, I expect the first ears on the stalks in the entire patch will be ready for market.

For my customers, the third photo is a comparison of the Polka variety I've been selling the past 10 days, compared to the Serendipity variety. Serendipity on the bottom and Polka on the top. Serendipity is a triple sweet and Polka is a Super Sweet. I'll start bringing both varieties to market tomorrow, August 21st, Sunday by 10am.

Pumpkins are getting giant. The Pumpkin Crop is going to be a bumper crop...what does it mean? You will be able to buy our pumpkins for much less than Wal-e-World sells them for and no need to settle for one little orange pumpkin. We have a dozen varieties, colors, paintable smoothies, and the Giant Polar Bears.

We have a virtual jungle of sweet corn growing in our fields.. Serendipity sweet corn will be on sale starting as soon as I pick it next week. Buy in volume to put up for winter...freeze...cream...can...everyone has their own method. Buy these beautiful Serendipity sweet corn ears for $4 / dozen when you buy more than 4 dozen at a time. Get together with your friends and have a party.

Serendipity Sweet Corn will be ready by next Wednesday August 24th at markets. Farm Market Buyer's Club Members get your orders in this week.

Our pumpkins will make it to Markets by September 10th - September 15th. Come to Hejdahl's Lot and check 'em out.

Here is a great sweet corn recipe for freezing batches of sweet corn. We ate corn made this way all year. Everyone loves it. The local farmers even liked it made with field corn because that is about what they were accustomed to eating before we grew good sweet corn here. :) All Joking Aside...It is awesome.

Some friends, John and Iris Crane, stopped on their trip through North Dakota. Arrived just in time to pick and eat a few ears of our great tasting Polka Sweet Corn for dinner. Rated Tops in taste in North Dakota. SUMMER 2016 SALES BEGIN at the Carrington Farm Market at Hejdahls Auto Parts parking lot...Sunday August 13th at 11:00 a.m. Come and get it. Every ear of corn looked perfect and the taste is absolutely SWEET!

Hejdahl's Parking lot 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning. I'll have our first sweet corn of the season. I expect to pick about 20 dozen...maybe more. Same great price...Same great taste! Slicing cucumbers. Kohlrabi. Early Beets. A few onions. Zuchinni...the huge ones are free as always for making your breads. Stop by and see us. Leslie will be there with her canned goods and Fancy jellies. I will have a bumper crop of three varieties of FRESH Super Sweet - Corn from now until the snow flies in late September. The growing season has been perfect! It's time to fire up the Grill :)

It is Time! Sunday Morning at Hejdahl's Auto parking lot. 11:00 AM until sold out. Will have about 20 dozen ears of Polka.
Also, fresh slicer cucumbers. Kohlrobi and our youngest beets. Leslie Paulson Hulbert will have canned goods there too!

When the sweet corn starts coming in, that's when you know summer has well and truly arrived. Those ears are so fresh and sweet that you can taste the sunshine in each bite. Add a pat of butter, and there's no resisting. How do you like your sweet corn?

Today August 1st, a day of 90 degree heat and high humidity...Pumpkin plants, cucumbers, and buttercup squash, loaded with bright yellow flowers, and each flower a stopping point for dozens of honeybees. The non-stop buzz of the bees are now being followed by a thousand pumpkins and squash, growing to twice their size, with each passing day.
