Friends around Wyoming….Barb could really use some extra help during the day. It would really be sitting with her to make sure she doesn’t fall. Helping her to and from the bathroom and helping change Depends. 10-4:30ish would be the hours most needed. James C. Dourie, age 92, of Prospect Street Warsaw and formerly a lifelong Wyoming resident passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the East Side Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw. Jim was born in Pavilion, June 9, 1930, a son of the late Charles and Rose Morong

Friends may call Thursday December 1st from 3-6 at Weeks Funeral Home in Warsaw. A brief Vigil service will be held at 5:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday December 2nd at 11am at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Warsaw. Burial will be immediately following the service in St. Michael’s Cemetery with full military honors. Please join us to share your many fond memories of Jim.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jim is now at Eastside Nursing in Warsaw! We are all very excited to have him back close to home. They did determine that he did have a stroke in addition to the blood clot in his arm on top of the original subdural hematoma. So lots of rehab ahead. If you would like to visit, he is in room 302. Late mornings, lunchtime, or very early afternoon are his most alert, best times. The rest of the day he tends to be very sleepy and very difficult to wake up and interact with. Many thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes!

Jim is making steady progress and the various treatments seem to be working. Rehab was in to see him yesterday and he was cleared for a regular diet. All very positive steps! If anyone is interested in visiting Barb she is home most days and could really use some friendly visits. Please feel free to message Michelle Dourie to confirm Barb's schedule.

Jim will be having a Transesophageal Echocardiogram first thing in the morning. This may give us some answers regarding infection. He has also developed a blood clot in his right arm that is being treated very carefully with blood thinners. He is still in the Neuro ICU and we couldn't ask for better care. Prayers for answers and successful treatment are always appreciated!

Tonight our minor setback became major. Jim was transferred back to the Neuro ICU after experiencing respiratory distress. We are still awaiting answers regarding medication allergy and infection although he is being treated for both. Unfortunately we all have more questions than answers at this point. Your prayers are much appreciated. On a positive note: Jim really enjoys when I read all of your cards to him, many thanks for helping to brighten his days!

So yesterday did not go quite according to plan. We were set to discharge to rehab but upon arrival at rehab Jim had a fever, high blood pressure, and a significant rash all over. So we returned to Strong and after lots of tests and time in the ER, they readmitted Jim back to the Neuro unit we just left. They are leaning toward a reaction to a medication at this time although they have not completely ruled out an infection. So for now we are back at Strong. Hopefully just a minor setback!
