It's September, but it's still summer in Maine and the market is going strong! Get your weekly dose of fresh, local goodies this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. From juicy heirloom tomatoes to early cukes, lots of fresh corn and hearty root vegetables, we've got the best of the harvest. Be sure to shop early for the best selection and don't forget the prepared food and handmade craft items.
Have you ever had Cucumber Tomato Salad? So simple, but delicious for a end of summer meal!
1 cup water
½ cup distilled white vinegar
¼ cup vegetable oil or olive oil
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
3 cucumbers, peeled and sliced ¼-inch thick
3 tomatoes, cut into wedges
1 onion, sliced and separated into rings
