Let's start with the history of this historic farm and family
Evergreen Farm was established in the 1950's by Ray and Anita Theis. Ray, being a third generation farmer, grew up on a Vegetable farm. They started by selling tomatoes for 13 years to the Campbell Soup Company and pickles to DelMonte. They raised four children on the farm: Fred, Margaret, Kyle Marie and Steve. In the 1990's, Ray put u
p the greenhouse and later named it "Amy's Greenhouse", after his granddaughter Amy. In the year 2000, Ray sold the farm to Steve and his wife Kathy. They have 3 children: Amy, Adam and Stephanie. In the year 2025 Steve and Kathy Theis sold the farm to Katie and Robert. Robert is one of Steve's cousins who grew up on a separate farm in maple park Theis Farm Market. The Theis family goes back generation's...... Robert is a fifth generation vegetable farmer from right here in northern Illinois. Evergreen Farm is a three season operation. In the spring, the greenhouse opens with annuals, hanging baskets, herbs, Proven Winner plants, as well as vegetable plants. They are known for their beautiful combination baskets, featuring the proven winner plants. All of their flowers are started from seed and each hanging basket is a one of a kind combination. Because we start everything ourselves, we do not get continuous shipments like other big box stores. To ensure getting the best picks, we recommend coming early in the spring. Items do tend to go quickly, especially around Mother's Day. In the summer, they switch gears over to the vegetables. Our farmstand features a wide variety of fresh local fruits and homegrown vegetables, grown right on the farm. Steve has become very popular for his delicious sweetcorn. We do take bushel orders for people who like to can, especially in the prime of the season when items are in surplus. In the fall, we have all of your fall decorating needs which include, pumpkins, gourds, Hardy mums, corn stalks, hard squash, as well as many other items. Evergreen Farm is open mid April thru October 31st. Spring and Fall Hours are 9-5, 7 days a week
Summer Hours are 9-6, 7 days a week
