Closing a Prompt Shouldn't Erase Everything

Ever started filling out a prompt, closed the Prompt Bar, then came back expecting everything to be gone?

Workflowly keeps your variable values while you're working.

Fill your variables. Close the Prompt Bar. Keep chatting. Open it again — your values are still there.

Your work stays until you actually insert the prompt.

**Close the bar. Not your progress.**

Switching Prompts Shouldn't Make You Start Over

Ever started filling out a prompt, switched to another one, then came back and had to enter everything again?

Workflowly keeps variable values separately for each prompt.

Fill Prompt A. Switch to Prompt B. Come back to Prompt A — your values are still there.

Each prompt remembers its own state while you're working, so switching prompts doesn't mean starting over.

**Switch prompts. Not progress.**

Workflowly Story: I Stopped Opening Notion. I Just Typed `pb:`

After spending way too much time searching through my prompt library, I started experimenting with a different approach.

I stopped opening Notion.

Now, when I need a prompt, I just type:

```text
pb:
```

That's it.

A small prompt bar appears directly inside the AI chat.

For example:

```text
pb: translate
```

And I can immediately see the prompts I have saved for translation.

Or:

```text
pb: reddit
```

Or:

```text
pb: coding
```

Then:

**Search → Enter → Insert.**

No opening Notion.

No switching tabs.

No copying and pasting.

It's a very small thing, but after using it for a while, going back to:

> Open Notion → search → copy → return to ChatGPT → paste

feels surprisingly slow.

I'm calling it **Prompt Bar**.

Still experimenting with it, but I think the interesting part isn't storing prompts.

It's being able to access them **without leaving the conversation.**

Curious what you think.

Would you actually use something like this?

Workflowly Story: What If Prompts Appeared Only When You Needed Them?

I've been thinking about something after using prompt libraries for a while.

Maybe the problem isn't that we need better prompt libraries.

Maybe prompts are stored in the wrong place.

Right now, my workflow usually looks something like this:

I'm in ChatGPT.

I realize I need a prompt I've used before.

So I leave ChatGPT.

Open Notion.

Search for the prompt.

Find it.

Copy it.

Go back to ChatGPT.

Paste it.

And then continue working.

The prompt itself might only take 10 seconds to use.

But finding it can take much longer.

It made me wonder:

**What if prompts didn't need to live somewhere else?**

What if the prompt appeared directly inside the AI chat when you needed it?

Not a huge library.

Not another dashboard.

Not another tab.

Just:

> I'm writing something → writing prompts appear.

> I'm translating something → translation prompts appear.

> I'm reviewing code → coding prompts appear.

> I'm summarizing something → summary prompts appear.

And only when I actually ask for them.

Maybe the future of prompt management isn't better storage.

Maybe it's **better context.**

Curious what people think.

Would you rather:

**A)** Keep a prompt library and search it when needed

or

**B)** Have relevant prompts appear directly inside your AI chat?

Workflowly Story: I Never Remembered What I Named My Prompts

I realized something annoying about the prompt library I had built.

I kept saving useful prompts.

But when I actually needed one...

I couldn't remember what I had called it.

For example, I might have saved something like:

* `Professional Translator`
* `Rewrite Assistant`
* `Code Reviewer`
* `Content Summarizer`
* `LinkedIn Writer`

The problem was that those names made perfect sense when I created them.

A few weeks later, they didn't help much.

I'd remember what I wanted to do.

I just wouldn't remember what I had named the prompt.

So I'd search for:

> "translate"

Then:

> "translation"

Then:

> "rewrite"

Then:

> "professional"

And sometimes I'd still not find the one I was looking for.

At some point I started wondering:

Maybe naming prompts isn't really the problem.

Maybe the problem is expecting people to remember the name of something they saved weeks ago.

Curious how everyone else handles this.

Do you carefully name every prompt?

Use tags?

Search by keywords?

Or do you usually just create a new prompt when you can't find the old one?

Workflowly Story: The Best Prompt Was Always Buried Somewhere

I've been saving useful prompts for a while now.

The problem is...

I don't always remember where I saved them.

I might remember what the prompt *did*.

But not:

- What I called it.
- Which folder it was in.
- When I saved it.
- Which version was the one that actually worked well.

So when I need it again, I usually start searching.

And searching.

And searching.

Sometimes I find it.

Sometimes I find three almost-identical prompts.

And sometimes...

I just give up and write a new one.

Which is kind of ironic.

I saved the prompt so I wouldn't have to write it again.

But finding it can take almost as long as writing a new one.

Curious if anyone else has this problem.

When you have a large prompt library, how do you actually find the prompt you're looking for?

Do you search by:

- Prompt name?
- Keywords?
- Folder?
- Tags?
- The actual prompt content?

Or do you just write a new prompt when you can't find the old one?
