What a journey. I couldn’t have done it without my brother Geoff, now he will hold this over me until death. Moved everything 2000 miles, and four days later made small batches of Bent River and Apricity. After the emotions of leaving settled, the excitement of making it is now the cheesemaking high I’m riding. Can’t wait to see some “Calemar” cheese in our case!

This is the hardest post of my cheese life. Managing a company from 1600 miles away is possible with great people and some luck, but my luck recently ran out.
There is a lot to say, but later. The news is I’m moving Alemar to California. I never thought this would or could happen, but the alternatives led me to this decision.
That’s my big brother, Geoffrey, who volunteered to help. I’m smiling, but there were so many moments of self-doubt, fear, and melancholy.
More to come, I hope you’ll wish me well.
