As we stand on the threshold of a new chapter, our hearts are overwhelmed with emotion and deep gratitude. After nearly 45 years, our incredible dad, Wiley Rains, is closing the doors of Kerr County Produce—a place that has been the heart and soul of our family and this community. It’s not just a business that’s closing; it’s the end of an era filled with memories, love, and a lifetime of hard work.
Dad, there are no words that can fully capture the depth of our gratitude for everything you and Mom, our beautiful and dearly missed Jan, have done for us. You clothed us, fed us, and were always there—cheering from the sidelines at every game, supporting us in every 4-H show, and teaching us to find joy in the simple things. Through the long hours, the early mornings, and the late nights, you and Mom showed us what it means to love fiercely and work tirelessly.
You both gave us the world, from the security of home to the adventure of family vacations. You navigated the stormy seas of raising six daughters with patience, humor, and an endless well of love. Every sacrifice you made, every dream you set aside, was for us—and we are who we are today because of you. You even made sure our weddings were special, paying for each one and making those moments unforgettable.
Mom’s spirit has always been with us, guiding you and all of us, even after she left this world too soon. Kerr County Produce was her dream too, and together, you built something beautiful, something that touched the lives of so many in this community.
But your legacy doesn’t stop with us. The love and devotion you have for your grandchildren is unmatched. They see in you the very best example of what hard work, dedication, and integrity look like. Your grandchildren cherish every moment spent with you, and they look to you as a source of endless inspiration. Your work ethic is a beacon for them, showing them the value of perseverance and the rewards that come from pouring your heart into everything you do.
As you prepare to close the doors for the last time on Friday, August 23rd, our hearts are heavy, but they are also full—full of love, full of pride, and full of gratitude. Thank you, Dad, for everything. Thank you for giving us the best life we could have ever imagined. And as you step into this well-deserved retirement, we are excited for the adventures that lie ahead. We look forward to making new memories together, to laughing and enjoying life in a way that only you can inspire.
To our dear Kerr County community, your unwavering support has been the lifeblood of Kerr County Produce. You’ve been more than customers—you’ve been friends, neighbors, and extended family. Thank you for being there, for sharing in our journey, and for making Kerr County Produce more than just a business.
This is not just a goodbye; it’s a heartfelt thank you from all six of us and our Dad too.
With all our love and excitement for the future,
Renee, Lacey, Misty, Amy, Jenny, and Wendy
