The Nut Shop was started by a small group of ladies in the Southern Peninsula who were suffering from various dietary issues but were unable to afford the nuts and nut flours that they so desperately needed. By negotiating with a major supplier to local retailers and grouping their orders together, they were able to get access to nuts, seeds and dried fruit at wholesale prices. Word spread and over the last three years the co-operative has grown from 5 ladies to over 25, giving it's members access to even cheaper prices and enabling orders to be placed on a regular basis. Our hope is to continue to grow in number and therefore purchasing power, to not only drive our prices down further, but to maybe one day give us all the power to purchase everything we need at wholesale rates.
