FAMILY-run business, Shoukut's Meat Market is well-known in the Crawford-community, having been located in the area for the past 30 years. The butchery - located on the corner of Thornton and Camberwell Roads, Crawford opposite Alexander Sinton High School since 2000. The bigger premises houses new ultra-modern equipment, including a polony-making machine and mixer, as well as an extra freezer room which have been implemented to increase efficiency at the busy butchery. The new spacious meat market has steel sheeting on the walls in the preparation area, attesting to the butcher's commitment to strict hygiene and cleanliness. Shoukut Abbas has worked in the meat industry since 1977 and has learned all he knows about the industry "hands-on". Today he has a management team to assist him in the business. In wanting to provide the community with a "one-stop shop", Shoukut's also retails products such as sauces, marinades, groceries, spices, frozen pastry, fresh vegetables, bread and much more. A large variety of lamb and beef products is available and the butchery is well-known for its speciality sausage, including the delicious Dhanya sausage, spicy and BBQ beef sausage, mutton sausage and farmstyle boerewors. "Sunday Home Food" for the busy housewife - prepared by our own personal chef using only top quality fresh meat (with a special touch) and pure Indian spices, home-made meals such as mutton curry, breyani, tandoori chicken with yellow rice, aknie and butter chicken are available from 9am to 12:30pm every Sunday.
