🌄 Chapman’s Peak Marathon 2025

A huge congratulations to all the runners who took on the iconic Chapman’s Peak Half Marathon today! From Hout Bay to Noordhoek and back, you conquered one of the most breathtaking routes in the country.

SPAR Hout Bay is proud to have supported this incredible event for many years. Our involvement goes beyond the race itself — it’s about opening doors for athletes from disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the chance to compete nationally and follow their dreams.

For us, it’s always been about more than running. It’s about celebrating community, showcasing the beauty of our shared home, and empowering people to go further — on the road, and in life.

🌟 Every precious baby deserves love. 🌟

Hannah’s Place of Safety (HPOS) is a sanctuary for newborns (up to 6 months) who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or born to substance-abusing parents. Here, each fragile life is welcomed with holistic care — from managing withdrawal symptoms to providing medical and developmental support — and given the chance to grow in a loving family environment.

Founded by Janine Fabe, inspired by her father’s experience as an orphan, HPOS has opened its doors to 345 babies in nearly 10 years. 💕 What makes them extraordinary is that they do this work independently — without government funding — so every baby’s care is rooted in love, not bureaucracy.

We at SPAR Hout Bay are honoured to walk alongside them. W e’ve committed to funding 10 cots every month for 12 months, ensuring babies have a safe place to sleep and thrive.

Admiral’s Regatta 2025 – All Eyes on the Bay ⛵

CCP (Community Crime Prevention) has been keeping our community safe for years — responding 24/7 to emergencies, handling hundreds of calls a month, and helping cut residential robberies from 90 in 2016 to just 6 in 2022.

Thanks to the CCP-SPAR card program (no registration needed!), every swipe at gives back to safety in our community.

CCP also runs Watchcon, our emergency response hub since 2009, and has been a key part of Hout Bay’s Integrated Community Safety Plan since 2016.
