Big news: our Mandela Day market postponement turned into something even better.

That extra breathing room gave us the gift of building something bigger: join us this September for the Cape Town Spring Fair Celebration at WPCC, three full days of 100+ local makers and food & bev vendors, live music and more. And on Heritage Saturday, our Fog & Fire Heritage Saturday community market joins our Spring celebrations, supporting five incredible local charities.

Supporting: SA Guide-dogs Association , Animal Rescue Organisation , Honeys Garden Medical Dogs SA , U-turn Homeless Ministries , and Living Roots

Dear community,

After reviewing the weather forecast for Saturday 18 July, we have made the decision to postpone the Fog & Fire Community Market. The risk of rain and low temperatures is too great to expose our vendors and their stock to, and we want to make sure that when you come out to support us, you have the best possible experience!

The good news? We’re not going anywhere. 🎉 The market will be rescheduled to Saturday 26 September 2026, where we’ll be joining an already-exciting 3-day Spring Market at WPCC, making it a bigger and even better community day! We will also be celebrating Heritage Day, making it the perfect occasion to come together, support local, and honour the diversity and creativity that makes our community so special.

Our five charity partners, , , .medicalalertdogs, , and , will all still be joining us in September, and we can’t wait to celebrate them with you.

💚 Our charity spotlight series continues with Living Roots, a social enterprise born out of the U-Turn programme.

Living Roots is run by formerly homeless U-Turn graduates who grow indigenous plants and provide sustainable gardening services across Cape Town. Every rand spent with Living Roots goes directly back into supporting the U-Turn programme, helping more people rebuild their lives from the ground up.

Come visit their stall on Mandela Day and take home a plant that gives back.

💚 Next up in our charity spotlight series: the SA Guide Dog Association.

The SA Guide Dog Association is South Africa’s only internationally accredited organisation training guide, service, and autism support dogs, giving people living with disabilities the freedom to live and move independently. For over 70 years, they have been changing lives one placement at a time.

💚 This week we’re shining a light on the incredible charities joining us at the Fog & Fire Community Market on Mandela Day, 18 July. First up:

U-Turn is an innovative skills-based programme helping people experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives through sobriety, employment, and housing. Every purchase with U-Turn Thrift Shops is a purchase with purpose, directly equipping people with the skills to overcome homelessness.

Come visit their stall on Mandela Day and shop their thrifted finds for men, women, and kids. You can also shop their online thrift store year-round.

💚 Dr Este Spies is turning 40, and so is Animal Rescue Organisation, and she’s marking the milestone in the most meaningful way she knows how.

As we head into Mandela Day, Este has set herself a challenge: raise R67,000 by 18 July and fund more than 120 sterilisations for animals in vulnerable communities across Cape Town.

Earlier this year, Lindsey set out to fund 39 sterilisations for her birthday and ended up funding 111. Inspired by her (and, yes, a little competitive about it 😅), Este is going bigger.

Every sterilisation prevents unwanted litters, reduces suffering, and changes lives before the suffering even starts. For 40 years, ARO has been doing exactly that through accessible vet care, education, and sterilisation programmes. This Mandela Day, you can help carry that legacy forward.

Your gift could fund:
🐾 R550 for one sterilisation
🐾 Any amount brings us one step closer to 120 animals receiving life-changing care
