DID YOU KNOW?
with 1.5ha Area

Specifically, within this portion which is about 1.5-hectare area, we cultivated approximately 250,000 spinach seedlings, spaced 20-30 cm apart within rows. Each bed measures 1.2 meters in width, accommodating five rows.

The initial harvest yielded approximately 19,000 bunches, each weighing about one kilogram (note: the spinach was in its tender, young stage). The second harvest produced about 38,000 bunches, representing mature plants with larger stems.

The number of bunches harvested is directly influenced by seedling density and spacing.

Experiment with various approaches to optimize your results.

HOW TO MEASURE HECTARES AND ACRES

Understanding how to measure land in hectares and acres is very important in farming. Proper land measurement helps in crop planning, spacing, fertilizer calculation, irrigation design, and estimating production costs and yield. Farmers need to know the size of their land before planting.

Basic Units of Land Measurement
The most common units used in agriculture are square metres, hectares, and acres.

1 square metre (m²) is a square measuring 1 metre by 1 metre.

1 hectare = 10,000 square metres

1 acre = 4,046.86 square metres

1 hectare = 2.47 acres

1 acre = 0.405 hectare

These are the main conversion figures every farmer should know.

Understanding a Hectare
A hectare is a piece of land measuring 100 metres by 100 metres.

This means if you measure 100 metres on one side and 100 metres on the other side, the land size is exactly 1 hectare.

Understanding an Acre
An acre is approximately 4,046.86 square metres.

A simple practical shape for one acre is about 64 metres by 63 metres.

This is close enough for field estimation.

How to Measure Land in the Field
Use a measuring tape, rope, chain, or measuring wheel.

Step 1
Measure the length of the land.

Step 2
Measure the width of the land.

Step 3
Multiply length by width.

Example
If your field is 200 metres long and 50 metres wide:

So the land is 1 hectare.

Converting Square Metres to Hectares
To convert square metres to hectares, divide by 10,000.

Converting Square Metres to Acres
Divide the area in square metres by 4,046.86.

Converting Hectares to Acres
Multiply hectares by 2.47.

Converting Acres to Hectares
Multiply acres by 0.405.

Local Practical Method
A farmer can use steps for rough estimation.

For example, if one normal step is about 1 metre, count steps for length and width, then multiply.

This method is not exact but can help in field estimation when tools are unavailable.

🐔 THE TRUTH ABOUT STARTING AN EGG FARM: What Every Beginner Must Know

📌 PART 1 – Start With a Plan, Not Birds
If you think egg farming starts with buying birds, you’re already making your first mistake.
Most failures happen before the birds even arrive.
Before you start, ask yourself:
How many birds can I manage well?
Do I have steady feed money?
Do I have market for my eggs?
Start small. Master it. Then expand.
👉 Egg farming is not about luck — it’s about management, discipline, and daily decisions.

💬 What number of birds did/will you start with?

Poultry farmers, let’s talk about something that quietly affects your profit every single day…

Mash vs Pellet Feed - Are you using the right one for your birds?

What is Mash Feed?

Mash feed is simply finely ground feed. It’s soft, loose, and easy for birds to eat especially young chicks.

Why farmers like mash:
Easy to digest (great for chicks and layers)
Cheaper to produce
You can easily mix supplements or medications inside

⚠️ But here’s the reality:
Birds scatter it and waste more
They may pick what they like and leave the rest
Too much dust can cause respiratory stress

Now let’s talk about…
Pellet Feed

This is feed that has been processed into compact, uniform pieces.

Why many commercial farms prefer pellets:
- Better feed efficiency (birds eat everything, grow faster)
- Less waste
- Every bite contains balanced nutrients
- Less dust, easier to handle and store

But remember:
It’s more expensive to produce
Day-old chicks may need crumble form first

The truth?
There is no “best” feed — only what works best for your management, bird age, and budget.

If your birds are wasting feed, growing unevenly, or your feed cost is too high, the problem might not be your birds… it might be your feed form.

Smart farmers don’t just buy feed, they understand it.
