🌽Canned Cornbread Recipe🌽

Surprise your guests with individual cornbread loaves, baked in tin cans for a really traditional braai side dish.

⭐⭐⭐Difficulty Medium | Prep Time 15 minutes | Cooking Time 25 minutes | Serves Makes 2

🍞Recipe Ingredients
2 empty tins
Spray and Cook
1 cup of SPAR Maize Meal
1 cup of SPAR flour
3 tsp SPAR Baking Powder
½ tsp SPAR salt
3 SPAR eggs
½ cup of SPAR Maas
3 Tbsp. SPAR olive oil
½ cup of SPAR Chakalaka
1 cup of SPAR Sweetcorn
Small handful of SPAR freshline coriander, chopped

🥄Recipe Method
Grease the tins with spray and cook, line with baking paper and spray again.
Heat the oven to 180ºC.
Sift the maize meal, flour, baking powder and salt together.
Beat the eggs, maas, and olive oil together.
Stir in the chakalaka, sweetcorn, coriander and egg mixture and mix well.
Spoon into the tins and bake for 25 minutes or until an inserted skewer comes out clean.
Allow to cool in tin before removing.

Try this for breakfast - it is delicious!

Recipe Ingredients

4 slices of bread of your choice
4 SPAR eggs
¼ cup SPAR cream
a pinch of salt
2 Tbsp butter

SWEET
A dash of vanilla essence
1 Tbsp SPAR castor sugar
1 punnet SPAR Freshline berries
SPAR Squillos chocolate hazelnut spread to taste
SPAR mixed berry jam to taste
mascarpone to taste

SAVOURY
12 rashers crispy bacon
4 poached eggs
3 tablespoons basil pesto
8 slices halloumi
a handful rocket or microleaves

Recipe Method

Beat the eggs, cream and salt (for the sweet version add the vanilla and sugar).

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and leave to soak for 2-3 minutes.

Heat the butter in a non-stick pan and fry the french toast for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Apply sweet or savoury toppings as per preference.
