Attention Harties residents:

We supply raw Jersey milk, fresh full cream yoghurt, butter and cream cheese. We are slowly building up our herd, which is free range, grass fed, and we are cruelty-free.

Products can be collected from our smallholding in Syferfontein.

Milk 2l for R15
Yoghurt 1l for R35
Cream cheese 250g for R25

We cannot take large orders at the moment but if you want to take a week's supply we can provide you with fresh and frozen milk.

No preservatives, no sugar added, no colourants, no antibiotics.

Would you like fresh eggs daily from your garden? We will install a small chicken coop, from recycled wood, and provide you with two point-of-lay hens. Price will depend on the size and style of the coop as well as the bred of chicken.

Just imagine having your very own chickens eating the garden bugs, providing you with fertiliser and fresh eggs, as well as oodles of cuteness.

Brrr! Winter is starting to make itself felt all over South Africa. It's a good thing that we're there to help you avoid standing in cold fresh produce aisles :)

Remember : we will deliver your fresh produce to your door!

We've now added to our range. For R170,00 we will deliver a crate of seasonal vegetables to you. Contents will vary because we will pick the freshest, yummiest vegetables on offer at the market, but if there's anything you don't want, let us know and we'll make sure that we only deliver veggies you will eat.

We're also going to start maintaining our blog more regularly, so look out for tried-and-tested recipes, insights into what cuts to use when, and, if I can get Roderick to pose in his apron, even a YouTube channel showing step by step instructions on how to make the yummiest meals.

I have been searching my usual foodie blogs and pages for some seriously special spring recipes to share with you.
One thing I have noticed though is that most of them are Northern hemisphere based and most of their seasonal stuff is all about fall (autumn for the rest of the worker...)

The US sites in particular seem to have a collective obsession with all things pumpkin and in particular pumpkin spice.
This got me thinking about ingredients that define a season. What ingredients have a relativley short season but are so yummy that you find any number of ways to eat them?

What are your favourites and what is the most unusual way you've prepared them to avoid the "not again" family revolt?

Bosheuvel is bursting at the seams with lambs, piglets and calves! It's such a treat to visit the farm and see them all frolicking about, happily left with mum, and playing with friends. Now that's what farming SHOULD be like!

Winter is drawing to a close. Is everyone getting their gardens ready for spring planting? Our farmers certainly are.
